FOOTBALL 2009

Update #1. 2-0 Ranked #25
We just shocked Notre Dame and the Irish!  What a great game to be a part of with all our friends and fans at Mad River.  This week we take on Eastern Michigan, led by former Wolverine Defensive Coordinator Ron English.  Last week Eastern Michigan barely lost to Northwestern on a late 50 yard field goal so come on out and lets tie our total wins from last year!!  Game time is at 12:00.  Table reservations for us last until the end of the first quarter, so please try to get there on time if you want a table.

Update #2. 3-0 Ranked #23
Although the defense looked sloppier than they had in the previous two games and gave up some yardage, the offense took advantage of opportunities and pulled away in the second half winning 45-17 over Eastern Michigan.  The win equals our grand total from last year!  This week we kick off the Big Ten season and our championship campaign with a game against Indiana University at noon.  Remember, reservations are good through 1st quarter.  Let us know if you're coming and we'll save you a spot!

Update #3.  4-1
First away game for our young team against in state rival MSU.  Wasn't pretty.  Some late heroics led by Tate Forcier brought the house down but an unfortunate deflection in the end zone resulted in his only interception and proved to be the game ender.  Even in the loss, our young team showed a lot of courage and toughness.  Defense still needs lots of work!  Next game at 8pm vs Iowa.  Side room reserved at MadRiver.

Update #4. 5-4
Bowl Eligibility is on the line!  After the tough loss to Michigan State and a slew of injuries, Michigan has hobbled through a 1-3 record with our only win coming against Delaware State.  It was amazing how one set of plays against Illinois turned the entire game around last week.  We need that same kind of turnaround!  Game time for Purdue is 12pm at MadRiver!  Only three mugs left to start the Mug Club so get your $25 in ASAP!  Seats are reserved through the first quarter so get there on time!  Go Blue!

Update #5. 5-6
Two more losses and what once looked like a very promising season is almost lost to bowl games again.  We have a young team with many freshman and sophmore players that I think are tired, both physically and mentally.  We are just not as sharp as we were 8 weeks ago.  But this is Ohio State, who just punched their ticket to the Rose Bowl.  This is the last game for the seniors and there should be no shortage of emotion.  What better way to finish than an upset over a BCS bowl team at home.  No matter where you go for the other games, you need to be with us for this one!  Come on down to Mad River!!

PARKING-
I have found the garage at 1 Cumberland Street to be very economical ($5 or less) and convenient.  Coming from North Charleston or Mount Pleasant, just follow East Bay to Chapel Street where you have a left turn arrow.  That road will wind around and eventually come to the market.  Go past market street and look for Cumberland street on the right.  The garage will be on your left.  From there, take Cumberland to East Bay, and then cross to N. Market Street.  There is a candy store on the corner and Mad River is almost right next door.  Leaving is just as easy and you should avoid the touristy areas with conjested traffic.
